The convoy carrying sacred relics and treasures to be enshrined in Deegawapi Stupa leaves ‘Sri Isurusumana Vihara’ at Giritale
The procession, carrying the sacred relics and treasures in the Deegawapi Stupa and Neelagiri Stupa commenced its remaining journey from the Sri Isurusumana Vihara, Giritale on this morning (Jul 07) amidst the chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha.
The procession carrying the sacred relics will pass through Polonnaruwa, Dehiattakandiya, Giradurukotte and reach the Mahiyangana Rajamaha Vihara this evening. Arrangements have been made for devotees to worship these sacred objects in all the major cities along this route.
The procession will resume its journey tomorrow (Jul 08) morning and reach Deegawapi Rajamaha Vihara passing Padiyathalawa, Mahaoya and Ampara.
In the great charity that is being performed to re-establish the glory of the most noble Deegawapi Stupa, the enshrinement ceremony of sacred relics and treasures in the hemispherical dome and the declare opening of the ‘Most Venerable Daranagama Kusaladhamma Memorial Pilgrims’, Shrine Room and Alms Offering Hall will be held on 14 July.
Arrangements have also been made to continue ‘Pirith Chanting’ for seven days from today (Jul 07) at Deegawapi premises to bless the people and to pay tribute to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country.
