Ceylon Ceramics Corporation signs MoU with ‘Deegawapiya Trust Fund’
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Chairman of the Ceylon Ceramics Corporation and ‘Deegawapiya Trust Fund’ recently (Aug 16) with regard to supplying required raw material (soil) for the manufacturing of bricks for the Deegawapiya Stupa restoration project.
Chairman of Ceylon Ceramics Corporation Ruwan Munasinghe, considering the requirement of obtaining quality raw materials for manufacturing bricks for the Deegawapiya Stupa restoration project signed the MoU with Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne who is also the ‘Author of the Deegawapi Aruna Trust’ and ‘First Trustee’ ‘Deegawapiya Trust Fund’ for the supply of raw material from the Corporation’s Eragama site on gratis basis.
Accordingly, both parties arrived at the conclusion that 10,000 cubes of the best soil for brick manufacturing should be excavated from the specified land and brought using labour from the Sri Lanka Army, to the Deegawapiya Stupa restoration project in order to be used for brick manufacturing.
Military Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Defence Maj. Gen. Dhammika Welagedara was also present at the occasion.
